Grey's Anatomy is an American medical drama created by critically acclaimed writer, Shonda Rhimes.The series orignally aired on ABC starting in 2005 and is currently heading into its 15th season, breaking the record for the longest running series on ABC. The series follows a group of interns, residents and attendings on their journey to becoming doctors. The show focuses on Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) who is the daughter of famous doctor Ellis Grey.
Meredith is joined Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight). All of these residents are overseen by Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) who is a senior resident working for Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). Through many twists and turns, cliffhangers and shocks, the cast has been through change after change with the exption of a few long term characters. As of the end of season 14 the cast is Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Jesse Williams, Camilla Luddington, Kim Raver, Caterina Scorsone, Kelly McCreary, and Giacomo Gianniotti.

Ellen Pompeo was born 10th November 1969 in Everett, Massachusetts, United States as Ellen Kathleen Pompeo. She is an American actress, director and producer. Her most well-known role is her current role on ABC's popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Meredith Grey. For her work on Grey's Anatomy she has earned a Golden Globe nomination and the Screen Actors Guild Award. To add, in 2007, Pompeo also earned an award for Special Achivement in Entertaining by the National Italian American Foundation for all of her contrabutions to entertainment. Pompeo has also recently been named the highest paid television actress in a drama series by Forbes. This after Pompeo held the fourth place spot on the list for a number of years before signing a 2018 contract with ABC that earns her a massive 20 million dollars anually. This brings Pompeo from earnigns of 11.5 million dollars to an insane 14.5 million dollars a year.
